Our Pastor: Rev Michael Alston

Rev. Michael Alston, is the husband of Mrs. Jacqueline R. Alston, the father of 4 children – 3 sons, 1 daughter, and the grandfather or (Papa) of 2 granddaughters Trynity, Justice, 4 grand sons Kingston, Trevell, Kaison and HyKeem. Rev. Alston is a proud alumnus of Cainhoy High School in Huger, SC. He did undergraduate studies at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC, he also studied Mortuary Services at Piedmont Technical College, Greenville SC.
He is a Retired Manager at SunChemical Company in North Charleston and an Ordained Itinerate Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He is a member of New Greater St. John AME Church, Wando, SC. He currently serves as the Mt. Pleasant District as Worship Leader and Choir Director. He is also the Choir Director of the Palmetto
Annual Conference. He is currently the proud (Pastor) Servant Leader of Mt. Nebo AME Church in Awendaw, South Carolina Reverend Alston is a Licensed Funeral Director and the Co-Owner of The Ministry Rivers Suburban Funeral Home and Crematory (the only Black owned Crematory in the Tri-county area, located in Goose Creek and North
Charleston SC, the Fire Chief of Cainhoy Rural Fire Department, one of the founders of the Cainhoy/Huger/Wando Community Development Corporation and the Chairman and Founder of the Cainhoy/Huger Community Scholarship Fund.

Rev. Alston is described by members of his community as a personable leader who is dedicated to making the community a better place for children to have all they need to be successful in their educational pursuits.
Rev. Alston regards the community as his family. He is dedicated to God, his family and his community. He is grounded, humble, modest, organized and unselfish. He is a leader who will roll up his shirtsleeve and do what
has to be done. The motivational influence he has on others is remarkable. He works with young men in the community mentoring them to become strong dependable men. He counsels members of the community and encourages them to achieve more than what they thought was possible. He shares what he knows and is willing to lead by example. One of his favorite scriptures is: Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven!
Associate Minister: Rev. Muzzetta Young

Rev. Muzzetta Green Young is a member of Mt. Nebo AME Church, located in Awendaw SC. She has been married to James D. Young for forty-three years, and they have been blessed with two wonderful daughters and six grandchildren. She is a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1968 and Trident Technical College class of 2006 where she received her Associates Degree in Early Care and Education. Rev. Young is a very active member at Mt. Nebo, currently Rev. Young serves as the Church School Superintendent and an active member of the Mt. Nebo Senior Choir. Rev. Young’s as Church School Superintendent goal is for the Church School Department is to see it grow and to aspire the youth of the community.
